Sport 2.0: Towards a New Era in Canadian Sport
The Sport Matters Group has released its policy brief featuring recommendations for maximizing both excellence in sport performance and the contribution sport can make to Canadian society. The policy brief examines the current Canadian sport landscape, identifies potential challenges facing our sector and recommends solutions for building an effective sport policy framework. The focus is on the following key areas:
- Community sport;
- Sport for development;
- High performance sport;
- Team sport;
- Sport infrastructure;
- Sport human resources;
- A new economics of sport;
- Sport governance; and
- Knowledge mobilization.
It is our hope that this paper serves as a catalyst for discussion and collaboration between the sport sector and decision-makers as we work together to effect policy change on all levels, support the use of sport to achieve broader goals, and put into place the next Canadian Sport Policy (CSP 2.0) framework for the decade ahead (2012-2022).
