Hello all,

Yesterday's budget put a golden financial glow on a memorable week for sport in Canada. The budget has demonstrated a level of support previously unseen by our federal government. Kudos to the many sport leaders and citizens - and our exceptional athletes and coaches - who collaborated in bringing these valuable sport proposals to government and for demonstrating what sport can do when we work together.

In sum, $31m have been allocated annually and on an on-going basis to a range of sport and physical activity priorities:

Evaluation of the Canadian Sport Policy

The work group will be helping to guide the work of the technical committee that will be preparing the following three deliverables for the FPT Sport Committee:
1. A response to the Evaluation Assessment of the Canadian Sport Policy (CSP) recommendations;
2. A revision of the Canadian Sport Policy Evaluation Framework;
3. The critical path for conducting a summative evaluation of the Canadian Sport Policy in 2010

International Conference on Sport and Society - March 8 - 10, 2010
Hosted at the University of British Columbia Robson Square 800 Robson St.Vancouver, BC V6Z 3B7
UBC is excited to be holding the inaugural Conference in Vancouver - scheduled between the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games, at the University of British Columbia. The Conference hopes to engage university and international academics to consider broad questions about the connections between sport and society in the exciting context of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The International Conference on Sport and Society and its companion International Journal of Sport and Society provide a forum for wide-ranging and interdisciplinary examination of sport.
